Branding is much more than a company logo and some fancy graphics. Your brand incorporates every aspect of your business, from your website to the customer experience you provide. Building a strong brand takes a lot of time and effort, but with some work you’ll be able to tailor your business to what you customer wants.
The first thing a strong brand requires is consistency. Don’t send out contradictory or confusing messages. Know who your audience is and target your message directly to them. Keep it to one simple, clean, crystal-clear message too; one great message is leagues better than ten confused ones. Next, you need to learn how to stand out from your competition. Look at what your competitors are doing and figure out how you can offer something to your customers that they’re not getting from the other guys. Think about why your customer should choose you over the competition and build on that. Finally, if you’re going to build a great brand you have to be bold about it. Get your message out to the world, seek out opportunities for publicity, and don’t be afraid to sell yourself!
